Held only if no candidate wins at least half of the votes of the voters who took part in round 1 (tentatively 4 Feb 2029; Constitution art. 78, Electoral Code art. 146(1)). The CEC then sets, by decision taken immediately after processing the round-1 results and at least 10 days before polling, a second round two weeks after the first between the two candidates with most votes (art. 146(4)).

National protocol annexed to CEC Hotărârea nr. 3208 of 9 Nov 2024. Names first-name first (the protocol writes 'SANDU MAIA'); party as the protocol writes it. Maia Sandu declared elected by the decision; confirmed by Constitutional Court Hotărârea nr. 25 of 28 Nov 2024, which repeats 930,139 and 750,430. totalVotes = h) valid votes 1,680,569 (rows add up to it exactly). ballots = d) voters who took part 1,701,284 = valid votes + f) 20,715 invalid ballots. electorate = a) 2,709,867 on the basic lists + b) 423,820 on the supplementary lists. Same figures in the per-polling-station spreadsheet (a.cec.md/rezultate-alegeri-turul-ii-18705.html), the CEC's release of 9 Nov 2024 and chapter 15 of the CEC report approved by HCEC 3209.
