The data licence is the whole of the terms for the data. The service terms below are about keeping the API fair for everyone.

Data

Our own data is licensed CC BY 4.0: use it for anything, including commercially, if you credit "Election Index (electionindex.org)" and link to https://electionindex.org. Pages we link to belong to their publishers and keep their own terms.

Service

• The website, API, MCP server and downloads are free. No account is needed.
• Keep to the rate limits. An optional API key raises them; keyless access stays.
• Don't use the service to attack it or other people, and don't try to get around the limits.
• The data is a reference, not legal advice or an official result. Always check the authority's own page, which every record links to. The service is provided as is, without warranty.
• We announce breaking changes to the API on the docs before they happen; /v1 stays compatible.
