Polls close at 17:00 local (2024 precedent: EC press release of 24 Nov 2024, 'from 7am until 5pm'; GNA, 8 Dec 2024: polls closed at 1700 hours 'in accordance with the Public Election Regulations, 2020 (C.I.127)'); Africa/Accra is UTC+0 with no daylight saving, so 17:00 UTC; voters already in the queue at closing may still vote. Votes are counted at each polling station and the results collated at constituency, then regional, then national level (GNA explainer, 8 Dec 2024). The EC publishes no running national total: before its declaration, figures are polling-station result sheets and collation-centre summaries, and media tallies of them. The window's end (end of 9 Dec, day 2) is an ESTIMATE matching the 2024 declaration day. Provisional, not the declared result.

The EC Chairperson is the returning officer for the presidential election (Public Elections Regulations 2020, C.I. 127, reg. 2(1), as shown on judy.legal) and declares the result after collating the regional results (GNA explainer, 8 Dec 2024); an instrument under the Chairperson's hand and the EC's seal is prima facie evidence of the election (Constitution art. 63). No constitutional or statutory deadline for the declaration was found. Precedent 2024 (polling Sat 7 Dec): the EC declared on 9 Dec 2024 (day 2) on 267 of 276 constituencies, and on 10 Jan 2025 published an update from 275 of 276 that left 'the outcome ... unchanged' (EC press release, 10 Jan 2025); the EC's 2024 programme set 7-10 Dec for declaration and 9-11 Dec for the gazette notice. In 2020 the EC announced on 8 Dec that it would 'extend its intended timeline' for the declaration (EC press release, 8 Dec 2020). The window opens at the start of 8 Dec (an ESTIMATED floor) and closes at the end of 14 Dec 2028 (day 7), late on purpose. A declaration that no candidate has more than 50% of valid votes means a second election within 21 days (art. 63(4); see ghana-presidential-2028-r2). Settle on the Chairperson's declaration, not on media tallies; later 'updates' of the figures, as in Jan 2025, do not change the declared outcome. A petition to the Supreme Court may be filed within 21 days of the declaration (art. 64(1); judgment due on the 42nd day after filing under C.I. 99 rule 69C, per the Daily Graphic), but no court has to confirm the result, so there is no court-validation stage.

Polls close at 17:00 local = 17:00 UTC (Africa/Accra, no daylight saving; 2024 precedent, EC press release of 24 Nov 2024). Members are elected by first past the post in single-member constituencies (EC 'Electoral system' page); each constituency returning officer declares the seat at the constituency collation centre (GNA explainer, 8 Dec 2024), and the EC then gazettes the results (2024 programme: 9-18 Dec). There is no national results page and no separate provisional count. SEATS: 276 constituencies in 2024 (EC press release, 10 Jan 2025: '275 out of 276 constituencies'); the EC can redraw constituencies before 2028, and the July 2026 White Paper discusses a larger Parliament, so the count is provisional. Precedent 2024 (polling 7 Dec): most seats were declared within days, but on 19 Dec 2024 nine were still outstanding; after a High Court order of 4 Jan 2025 all but one were declared by 17 Jan 2025 (day 41), and the last (Ablekuma North) needed a rerun in 19 polling stations on 11 Jul 2025, seven months later (EC press releases of 19 Dec 2024, 17 Jan and 2 Jul 2025). The window opens at the start of 8 Dec (ESTIMATED floor) and closes at the end of 31 Jan 2029 (day 55), two weeks past the 2024 date for all but one seat; single disputed seats can stay open for months, as in 2025. The new Parliament's first session must be appointed within 14 days after the old one expires (art. 112(4)); 2025 precedent: first sitting at midnight on 7 Jan 2025 (GNA). Parliamentary election petitions go to the High Court; their deadlines were not checked, and no court confirms the result, so there is no court-validation stage.
