DATE (tentative): Constitution art. 77 numeral 9: the election of both Chambers and of the President and Vice President 'se realizará el último domingo del mes de octubre cada cinco años, sin perjuicio de lo dispuesto en los artículos 148 y 151'. Last held Sunday 27 Oct 2024 (last Sunday of October 2024), so the next is the last Sunday of October 2029: 31 Oct 2029 is a Wednesday, so Sunday 28 Oct 2029. No convocation for 2029 published yet (checked 2 Oct 2026). Snap risk: art. 148 lets the President dissolve the Chambers after a censure vote, with a new election of Senators and Representatives on the eighth Sunday after the decree, but not during the last twelve months of the mandate; the presidential date is fixed. Party internal elections (elecciones internas, Ley 17.063; last held 30 Jun 2024 per the Corte Electoral) pick each party's single presidential candidate and its conventions in June 2029; they are party elections and are not profiled here. Polls: Ley 7.812 art. 53 (text of Ley 14.041): voting runs 'desde la hora ocho ... hasta la hora diecinueve y treinta'; art. 96: stations may extend by at most one hour for voters of the circuit already waiting. 19:30 America/Montevideo (UTC-3; Uruguay has no summer time per the IANA tz database) = 22:30 UTC. Each polling station (comisión receptora de votos) counts its votes after the close (escrutinio primario); the Corte Electoral publishes the running sum as 'SUMATORIA PROVISORIA DE LOS RESULTADOS DE LOS ESCRUTINIOS PRIMARIOS' on its results system (2024 page wording). Window opens at the 19:30 close (22:30 UTC); polling stations may stay open up to an hour longer for voters already waiting (Ley 7.812 art. 96). The end, noon Monday local, is an ESTIMATE: the time the 2024 primary count reached completion was not found on the Corte's page. Provisional, no legal effect.

Departmental count (escrutinio departamental) by the 19 Juntas Electorales. Ley 7.812 art. 125: each Junta meets 'dentro de los tres primeros días siguientes al de la elección' (by Wed 31 Oct 2029), on the day and hour the Corte Electoral fixes; art. 141: 'Las Juntas Electorales deberán terminar los escrutinios antes del octavo día siguiente al de su iniciación' - from a start on 31 Oct at the latest, by the end of 7 Nov 2029 local (08 Nov 02:59 UTC); an unfinished count goes to the Corte, which should finish within five days of receiving it. For national races the Juntas only total the department's valid votes and send the acta to the Corte (art. 142). The opening (noon Monday) is an ESTIMATED floor. 2024 precedent: Circular 11.906 art. 65 set the start for Tue 29 Oct 2024 at 12:00; the results system showed 'RESULTADOS DE ESCRUTINIO DEPARTAMENTAL - TODO EL PAÍS' with 7,234 of 7,234 circuits at 2 Nov 2024 20:20 local (day 6). It includes the observed (contested-identity) votes the primary count left out. Still not the proclamation.

Constitution art. 151: the President and Vice President are elected jointly by 'mayoría absoluta de votantes' in the whole country as one constituency; otherwise a second election between the two most-voted candidacies is held on the last Sunday of November (25 Nov 2029, see the -r2 file). Blank and annulled votes count toward the total (Circular 11.906 art. 67, 2024). The Corte Electoral totals the departmental actas (Ley 7.812 art. 142) and is 'juez de las elecciones' (art. 322). If a candidacy wins outright, the Corte proclaims it; no statutory deadline found, so the window is an ESTIMATE that ends with the legislative window, end of 21 Dec 2029 local, well before the 1 Mar 2030 inauguration (art. 158). If no candidacy has a majority, there is no proclamation in this round: the outcome is the Corte's departmental total naming the two candidacies, complete on 2 Nov 2024 (day 6) in the 2024 precedent. The opening (1 Nov 2029) is an ESTIMATED floor. Protests: Ley 7.812 art. 162, decided by the Corte; no separate court stage.

Constitution art. 322: the Corte Electoral is the judge of the elections and decides 'en última instancia' all appeals and claims; it adjudicates the seats and proclaims the elected Senators in a session acta, on the departmental totals (Ley 7.912 of 1925, cited in the 2024 acta). No statutory deadline for the proclamation was found. Precedent (Corte Electoral actas, gub.uy): Senators proclaimed 6 Nov 2014 (Acta 9413/2014, day 11 after the 26 Oct 2014 vote), 20 Nov 2019 (Acta 10035/2019, day 24), 28 Nov 2024 (Acta 10754/2024; Representatives the same day, Acta 10755/2024, day 32). The window opens at day 8 (ESTIMATED floor, below the 2014 day 11) and closes at the end of Friday 21 Dec 2029 local (day 54), well past the latest precedent; the new General Assembly first meets on 15 Feb 2030 (Constitution art. 104). Party authorities may protest the election during the counts and up to three days after they end (Ley 7.812 art. 162); a protest does not stop the proclamation, and the Corte itself decides it, so there is no separate court-validation stage. Seats: 30 elected by national proportional representation (Constitution art. 94: "treinta miembros"; the 2024 acta divides the valid votes by thirty); the Vice President presides and is the 31st member.

Preguntas y respuestas

¿Cuándo será oficial el resultado definitivo (Cámara de Senadores)?
Previsto entre 2029-11-05T03:00:00Z y 2029-12-22T02:59:59Z (UTC), confianza: precedente.
¿Cuándo será oficial el resultado definitivo (Cámara de Representantes)?
Previsto entre 2029-11-05T03:00:00Z y 2029-12-22T02:59:59Z (UTC), confianza: precedente. Constitution art. 322: the Corte Electoral is the judge of the elections and decides 'en última instancia' all appeals and claims; it adjudicates the seats and proclaims the elected Representatives in a session acta, on the departmental totals (Ley 7.912 of 1925, cited in the 2024 acta). Party authorities may protest the election during the counts and up to three days after they end (Ley 7.812 art. 162); a protest does not stop the proclamation, and the Corte itself decides it, so there is no separate court-validation stage. Seats: 99 (Constitution art. 88: "noventa y nueve miembros"; the Corte's prior allocation of seats by department for 2024 is Circular 11.910 of 19 Aug 2024; not read for this record).
