    The CNE's national count, which it has usually called provisional. There is no official running count on election night: the first nationwide figures are the CNE's national count, announced at a press event and posted as PDFs. In practice the CNE has been faster. 2019 1st round: vote Sun 24 Nov, results Wed 27 Nov, day 3 (Al Jazeera, 27 Nov 2019). 2019 runoff: vote 29 Dec, provisional result 1 Jan 2020, day 3 (VOA, 1 Jan 2020; the CNE PDF is titled 'Resultados provisórios de 2ª volta'). 2025: vote 23 Nov; the CNE was due to announce on 27 Nov, day 4, but the 26 Nov coup stopped the count and the results were never published (Al Jazeera, 2 Dec 2025). 2026 referendum: vote 30 Aug, provisional result Tue 1 Sep, day 2 (Euronews PT, 1 Sep 2026).     The CNE's definitive result: it proclaims the elected candidate, or the two candidates for the second round (arts. 93, 101), and publishes the official map in the Boletim Oficial within 48 hours of finishing the national count (art. 97). Appeals against CNE decisions go to the plenary of the Supreme Court of Justice (STJ). They must be lodged within 48 h, replies are due within 48 h, and the Court decides within a further 48 h (arts. 142–147). The law gives the STJ no separate step to validate the presidential result, so there is no court-validation stage here. 2019 1st round: the CNE's day-3 figures (27 Nov) are the ones it now posts as 'Resultados definitivos de 1ª volta'. 2019 runoff: provisional on day 3, then 'definitive' on Fri 17 Jan 2020, day 19 (RTP). The STJ then ordered the national count operations redone. The CNE reconfirmed the result on 25 Feb 2020, day 58 (Observador, 25 Feb 2020). The window closes at the end of 31 Dec 2026, day 25, later than 2019's day 19. A contested count like 2020's could run well past it. The 2026 revised electoral law was not found, so the deadlines above may have changed.
