  1. Election-night count
    →
    precedent
Electoral Code art. 75: voting 07:00-21:00 (polling stations may stay open up to 2 h longer for voters already queuing, art. 78(8), per the CEC's 2025 calendar). On 4 Feb 2029 Chisinau is on EET (UTC+2), so the close is 19:00 UTC; stations abroad close at 21:00 local time, the last ones in North America hours later. Art. 86(1): preliminary results by polling station are posted on the CEC's resources as soon as they are processed. Precedent from the CEC's last national count (28 Sep 2025, Moldpres, the state news agency): 99.03% of protocols processed by 06:31 local the next morning, all of them by 15:19. The window closes at the end of the day after polling day. Preliminary, not the CEC's result.
  2. Final result
    →
    announced
Electoral Code art. 84(4): district electoral councils send their protocol to the CEC within 48 h of the close (by 6 Feb 2029, 21:00 local); art. 85(1): the CEC draws up the national protocol 'in five days', which the CEC's own 2025 calendar counts from those protocols, i.e. by the end of day 7 (11 Feb 2029); arts. 145-147: the CEC declares a candidate elected if they won at least half of the votes of those who voted, otherwise it sets the second round for the top two; art. 146(4) requires that decision 'immediately after the processing of the first-round results' and at least 10 days before the second round, so for an 18 Feb run-off by 8 Feb. Precedent from the CEC's own report: 2024 round 1 (20 Oct) was centralised by HCEC nr. 3130 of 23 Oct 2024 (day 3), which set the run-off for 3 Nov. The opening (the 48 h deadline) is an ESTIMATED floor; the window closes at the end of day 9 (13 Feb 2029, EET), two days past the statutory limit, to err late. Art. 12: deadlines run in calendar days, holidays included.
  3. Court validation
    →
    precedent
Only if a candidate wins outright in round 1; otherwise the Court confirms the election after round 2 (see moldova-presidential-2029-r2), as it did in 2024, when one ruling covered both rounds. Constitution art. 79(1) and Electoral Code arts. 147(2)-149: the CEC sends its papers to the Constitutional Court within 24 h of establishing the result; the Court confirms or refuses to confirm the legality of the election within 10 days of receiving them, 'but not before the final resolution of complaints', and validates the mandate. Precedent: 2024, referral lodged 9 Nov 2024, Hotărârea nr. 25 of 28 Nov 2024 (19 days later, day 25 after the run-off); 2025 parliamentary, referral 6 Oct, ruling 16 Oct 2025 (10 days). The opening is an ESTIMATE (the earliest CEC decision plus a day); the window closes at the end of day 35, past the 2024 precedent, to err late. Art. 79(2): oath at the latest 45 days after the election.
