Polling hours are not in the law: the Elections Commission sets the voting day, the general closing time and the start of the count (Elections (General) Act 11/2008 s.43). 2023 round 1 ran 08:00-16:00 and round 2 08:00-17:00 (Commission press conference reported by RaajjeTV, raajje.mv/141962); the 2024 Majlis election ran 08:00-17:30 after the Commission extended the close by 1 h 30 min (announcement (IUL)38-AC/38/2024/253, elections.gov.mv/announcements/107), with the stations in India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia also closing at 12:30 UTC. pollsCloseUtc assumes 17:30 Maldives time (UTC+5, no DST) = 12:30 UTC, an ESTIMATE until the Commission announces the hours. Counting is done at each ballot box after the close; box results are announced there and sent to Male', and the Commission then announces box results and provisional results (s.57, s.60). The Commission's results dashboard fills box by box on the night. 2023 precedent: provisional round-1 figures were reported the morning after the 9 Sep vote (RaajjeTV, 10 Sep 2023, raajje.mv/141836); 2024 Majlis: the Commission's provisional-results announcement is dated 22 Apr 2024, the day after polling (elections.gov.mv/announcements/116). The window closes at the end of the day after polling, Maldives time. Provisional, not the official result.

Presidential Elections Act 12/2008 s.15: 'Within seven (7) days of the voting day of the presidential elections, the official results of the voting shall be publicly announced by the Elections Commission and published in the government gazette' (same rule in Elections (General) Act s.61), i.e. by 25 Oct 2028 for an 18 Oct vote. s.18(b): if a candidate has over 50% of the valid votes, the Commission announces with the official result that the candidate is elected; otherwise the runoff follows (s.19). Precedent: the 2023 runoff (30 Sep) official result was announced at a Commission press conference on the night of Wed 4 Oct 2023, day 4, unchanged from the provisional figures (Sun, see.mv/85106; RaajjeTV 5 Oct 2023, raajje.mv/143023); the 2024 Majlis official results were posted on 25 Apr 2024, day 4 (elections.gov.mv/announcements/123 ff.). The date of the 2023 round-1 official announcement was not found. The opening (start of day 2, local) is an ESTIMATED floor; the window closes at the end of 27 Oct 2028, Maldives time, two days past the statutory deadline. Disputes about a presidential election go to the Supreme Court, which has 'sole and final jurisdiction' (Constitution art. 113); petitions against results otherwise lie to the High Court within 14 days of the official result, judgment within 30 days (Elections (General) Act ss.64-65). No court confirms the result, so there is no court-validation stage.
