Held because no candidate won an absolute majority of the votes cast in the first round of 28 Jun 2024, so the two candidates with the most votes, Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili, went to a second vote on the Friday of the following week (Constitution art. 117; Presidential Electoral Law arts. 12-14). The second-round date, 15 Tir 1403, was fixed in the election calendar (Guardian Council spokesman, shora-gc.ir news 10242).
