    precedent
Ley Electoral art. 263: voting runs from 07:00 'hasta las diecisiete horas (5:00 p.m.); de manera improrrogable', voters in line still vote; art. 265: where voting started late, the JRV may by unanimity extend it to 18:00. Honduras is UTC-6 all year (America/Tegucigalpa, no DST), so 17:00 local is 23:00 UTC. In 2025 the CNE announced on polling day that the JRVs would extend voting nationwide to 18:00 (00:00 UTC) under that rule (CNE communication 049-2025, as reported by El Heraldo, 30 Nov 2025). Art. 279: the CNE must start publishing the preliminary results of the polling-station counts, in a public session, 'a más tardar tres horas después de haberse cerrado la votación' and continue periodically; art. 278: the presidential-level result is transmitted (TREP) from each JRV right after its count; art. 280: these results 'tienen carácter preliminar'. 2025 precedent: the CNE's first preliminary cut came at 22:17 local on 30 Nov 2025, with 39.34% of actas (El Heraldo, 30 Nov 2025). The end of the window, end of 26 Nov 2029 local, is our estimate for a substantial first count; it is preliminary, not the declared result.

    precedent
Ley Electoral art. 283: the CNE makes the general scrutiny (escrutinio general), the verification and sum of every JRV's closing act; acts with inconsistencies that cannot be resolved go to a special scrutiny by verification and recount boards. The running count keeps changing until the scrutiny closes. 2025 precedent: 88.02% of actas processed on 7 Dec 2025 (El Heraldo, 7 Dec 2025); 99.80% processed when the special scrutiny of about 2,800 actas began on 18 Dec 2025 after postponements from 13 Dec (Confidencial, 19 Dec 2025); the CNE's count then ran to the declaration. The window ends at the legal deadline for the declaration (art. 284). This is still not the declared result.

Ley Electoral art. 284: the CNE 'debe hacer la declaratoria de elecciones a más tardar treinta (30) días calendarios después de efectuadas las elecciones' and order its publication in La Gaceta the next day; art. 285: the presidential ticket with a simple majority of votes is declared elected (single round; Constitution art. 236). 30 days after 25 Nov 2029 is 25 Dec 2029; the window closes at the end of that day local (UTC-6). The opening is an estimated floor. Precedents: 2025 (30 Nov): the CNE approved the presidential-level declaration on the night of 23 Dec and made it public on 24 Dec 2025 (day 24; La Prensa, 23 Dec 2025; El Heraldo, 27 Dec 2025) and issued the final declaration of all levels on 30 Dec 2025 at 18:28, day 30, the last legal day (Tu Nota, 30 Dec 2025). 2021 (28 Nov): presidential declaration on 20 Dec 2021, day 22. The 2025 count drew challenges; these go to the Tribunal de Justicia Electoral under the Ley Procesal Electoral (Ley Electoral art. 305), but no court must confirm the CNE's declaration, so there is no separate court stage. The new term begins 27 Jan 2030 (Constitution art. 237). Tentative: derived from the law, not yet convened by the CNE. Ley Electoral (Decreto 35-2021) art. 196: deputies serve four years from the solemn installation of Congress (art. 189: ordinary sessions open 25 January). The term that began 27 Jan 2026 (after the 30 Nov 2025 election) ends in January 2030, so the election falls in 2029; 30 Nov 2029 is a Friday, so the last Sunday of November 2029 is 25 Nov 2029. Art. 212: the CNE convokes the election six months before (president and designados, PARLACEN deputies, National Congress deputies, municipal corporations), published in La Gaceta. Honduras has no early-election mechanism. Pending changes: in Aug-Sep 2026 the National Congress received electoral-reform proposals (JRV composition, CNE quorum; a presidential runoff needs 86 of 128 votes and had no agreement), none passed; the reporting we read names no change to polling day, hours or the declaration deadline (La Prensa, 9 Aug and 8 Sep 2026). Constitution art. 51 (2011 consolidated text): the electoral law can be reformed only by two thirds of all members of Congress (86 of 128).

Precedents: 2025: the CNE declared the 128 deputies in the final declaration of 30 Dec 2025, day 30 (Tu Nota, 30 Dec 2025). 2021: the declaration of 28 Dec 2021, day 30, published in La Gaceta 35,808, left out the deputies of Francisco Morazán and Colón, which the CNE was still resolving (El Heraldo, 4 Jan 2022; Tu Nota, 3 Jan 2022). Questions and answers

When is the Honduras general election 2029?
Polling day is 2029-11-25, not yet officially confirmed.
When will the final result of the President and Presidential Designates race be official?
Expected between 2029-11-26T06:00:00Z and 2029-12-26T05:59:59Z (UTC), confidence announced. Constitution art. 237: 'El período presidencial será de (4) cuatro años y empezará el veintisiete de enero siguiente a la fecha en que se realizó la elección'; art.
