The date is fixed by law. Election Act for Åland (2019:45) §3: ordinary Lagting and municipal elections are held together four years after the last ordinary election, and "Den tredje söndagen i oktober är valdag". The last ordinary election was on 15 Oct 2023, so polling day is Sunday 17 Oct 2027; val.ax also states this date (read 30 Sep 2026). The municipal elections are held on the same day. A dissolution of the Lagting and a snap election would change the cycle (§3). Polls are open 09:00-20:00 on polling day; 20:00 EEST = 17:00 UTC (summer time ends on 31 Oct 2027). The count of advance votes may not be published before 20:00. The municipal boards then count the polling-day votes, and val.ax states that the preliminary result "blir klart redan på kvällen på valdagen". The window closing at 00:59 EEST on Monday 18 Oct 2027 is an ESTIMATE, because no 2023 timestamp for the completed preliminary count was found.
