The second round ('engere Wahl') takes place on the fourth Sunday after the first, between the two candidates with the most valid votes; the Bundeswahlbehörde orders it by the eighth day after the first round (BPräsWG §§ 18, 19(1)). The date follows from the tentative first-round date of 8 Oct 2028.
