Held only in constituencies where no candidate won an absolute majority of votes cast in the first round on 11 Jul 2027 (electoral law art. 66); the candidate with the most votes then wins. In 2022 only the two leading candidates of each such constituency took part (Council of Ministers report, 20 Jul 2022). The date is not set by law: the government convenes the second round by decree after the first-round results (2022: decree of 20 Jul for 31 Jul). Challenges go to the Constitutional Court within 15 days of the proclamation (Loi organique n° 28-2018 art. 59); it rules on challenged seats only, so there is no court-validation stage. 2022: the Court heard the petitions on second-round results in five constituencies on 29 Sep 2022, with its verdict due on 30 Sep (allAfrica / Les Dépêches de Brazzaville, 29 Sep 2022). The new Assembly's mandate begins on the second Tuesday after the election (Constitution art. 115): in 2022 its inaugural session was on Tuesday 16 Aug, the second Tuesday after the 2 Aug proclamation (Les Dépêches de Brazzaville, 17 Aug 2022). No government stage: the President appoints the Prime Minister with no statutory step tied to this vote.
