Lithuania runoff 2029

Held only if no candidate is elected on 6 May 2029: in round 1 a candidate needs more than half the votes cast with a turnout of at least half the voters, or, on a lower turnout, the most votes but at least 1/3 of all voters. The second round is held two weeks later between the two candidates with the most votes; the one with more votes wins (Constitution art. 81, Electoral Code art. 167(3)). If no more than two candidates stood and neither is elected, a repeat election is held instead. The VRK announces the runoff date with the round-1 results.

No court-validation stage: the VRK must decide all complaints about counts before it publishes the final results (Code art. 189(3)); the Constitutional Court gives a conclusion on violations of electoral law only if the Seimas asks for one (Constitution arts. 105-106, Code art. 191), which is not a routine step. The President-elect takes office on 12 Jul 2029 (Constitution art. 82).
