    The CENI calendar for 2027 gives 3–7 May to centralise results from the commune and provincial commissions, then 8–9 May for the CENI to consolidate and proclaim the provisional results (Code électoral art. 72: the CENI President proclaims them at the CENI seat and sends the report straight to the Constitutional Court). The law sets no deadline for this step. 2020 precedent: vote on 20 May, CENI provisional proclamation on 25 May 2020, day 5 (CENI post 'Discours du Président de la CENI lors de la Proclamation provisoire des résultats, le 25 mai 2020'). The 2027 plan is day 5–6. The window opens on 7 May, local time, one day before the calendar, and closes at the end of 12 May local, three days late. There is no national election-night count: communes and provinces proclaim their own tallies first. Provisional, not the final result.

    The Constitutional Court, not the CENI, proclaims the final result. Code électoral art. 76: the CENI sends the results to the Court 'sans délai'. Art. 77: the Court's official proclamation 'doit intervenir au plus tard le neuvième jour calendrier à partir de celui de leur transmission'. Art. 85: petitions are due within 3 calendar days of the provisional proclamation. Art. 87: the Court has 8 calendar days to rule on them. CENI calendar 2027: transmission 10 May, petitions 10–12 May, Court review 10–17 May, final results on 18 May 2027 (day 15). Precedent, also day 15 both times: 2020, Arrêt RCCB 387 of 4 June 2020 on the 20 May presidential vote. 2025, Arrêt RCCB 453, delivered in open court on 20 June 2025 on the 5 June legislative vote after the CENI's 12 June transmission letter. The window opens on 13 May local, after the petition period. It closes at the end of 24 May local, day 21, six days after the calendar date, to cover a late provisional count plus art. 77's 9 days. If no candidate wins an absolute majority (art. 91), this ruling announces the second round instead (see burundi-presidential-2027-r2). The new President is sworn in on 18 June 2027 (CENI calendar; Code électoral art. 93).
