Open, simultaneous and mandatory primaries (PASO) that pick each party's candidates for the 24 Oct 2027 general election; they elect no one to office. Held only if Congress does not suspend or repeal them first: Ley 26.571 art. 20 (as amended by Ley 27.781, B.O. 18 Oct 2024) sets them on the first Sunday of August of a general-election year, and Ley 27.783 (B.O. 7 Mar 2025) suspended them for 2025 only. A government bill to eliminate them entered the Senate in Apr 2026 and had not passed on 25 Sep 2026 (Parlamentario, 22 Apr 2026; La Nación, 23 Sep 2026). CNE Acordada Extraordinaria 155/2026 (8 Sep 2026) urged Congress to settle any 2027 rule change early (Infobae, 8 Sep 2026).
