The Legal Assistance Centre's NAMLEX index (update of 15 Jul 2026, lac.org.na/namlex/Elections.pdf) lists only two amendments, to ss. 25 and 77 (Acts 17/2023 and 8/2024), so these sections are unchanged. DATE WORKING: both the President and the members of the National Assembly elected in 2024 took office with effect from 21 Mar 2025 (GG 8555), so both five-year terms (Constitution arts. 29(1)(a) and 50) expire on 21 Mar 2030. Electoral Act s. 63(1)(a)(i) and (b)(i) require each election 'not earlier than five months and not later than three months prior to' that expiry: the window is 21 Oct 2029 to 21 Dec 2029. The date given, Fri 21 Dec 2029, is the LATEST LAWFUL DATE and is TENTATIVE; the actual day is set by presidential proclamation on the ECN's recommendation (s. 64). If the Assembly's term is read as ending on 20 Mar 2030, the latest date is 20 Dec 2029; either way it falls in 2029. Recent elections were held in late November (27 Nov 2019, 27 Nov 2024). Snap-election risk: a dissolution of the Assembly (arts. 57 and 29(5)) or a presidential vacancy more than a year before the due date (art. 29(4)(b)) would bring an election within 90 days.",
